Yari Advocates for Integrity in 2027 Elections Amid Insecurity

Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar, the former Governor of Zamfara State and Marafan Sokoto, called for a credible and transparent 2027 general election during his speech as chairman at the 8th edition of Blueprint Newspapers’ Public Lecture, themed “Security Challenges and the Integrity of the 2027 Elections.” He asserted that insecurity should not undermine the electoral process, urging the ruling party to demonstrate its commitment to democracy by ensuring a free and fair election. Yari expressed dissatisfaction with the Osun State governorship election, suggesting it could indicate the government's determination for a credible electoral process in 2027.

He reflected on his experiences with insecurity during his tenure from 2011 to 2019, noting its impact on previous elections. Yari stressed that addressing insecurity is a collective responsibility involving politicians, elites, and citizens.

He identified security and the economy as critical issues needing attention from the Federal Government and acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts in enhancing security.
