Kwara Youths Protest Against Bandit Killings and Insecurity

On Wednesday, youths from Kwara North, organized by the Aegi Coalition, protested at the government house in Ilorin, demanding an end to the persistent killings and insecurity caused by bandit attacks in their communities. They carried placards and expressed their anguish over the recent violence, particularly in areas like Gbugbu and Woro, where families live in fear of daily attacks.

Usman Haruna, the group's coordinator, highlighted the impact of these attacks, stating that 162 to 200 lives have been lost within two days, affecting farmers, students, and parents. The protest aimed to draw attention to the neglect by the state government and the urgent need for a comprehensive support plan for victims, including compensation and trauma counseling.

The coalition also criticized the government's decision to relocate internally displaced persons to Yikpata, calling for a more secure location. They urged the government to develop a clear, time-bound security roadmap to restore confidence and end the cycle of violence in the region.
