Youths Protest Over 176 Abducted Women and Children in Kwara

On Friday, youths in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, staged a protest at the council secretariat to demand urgent action regarding the prolonged captivity of 176 women and children abducted from Woro Community. The protest, led by the Kaiama Youth Advocacy Group, was sparked by a viral video showing the abductees pleading for rescue, which heightened tensions and outrage in the area.

During the demonstration, the group condemned the failure of authorities to ensure the safety of citizens and warned that the prolonged captivity reflects a significant security breach. They expressed concerns over the delayed response and lack of transparency from relevant authorities, emphasizing that families are left in despair as they watch their loved ones suffer.

The youths insisted that both the Kwara State and federal governments must move beyond rhetoric and take concrete actions to tackle the complex issue of banditry. They proposed the immediate deployment of specialized rescue operations and called for regular public briefings, enhanced local security structures, and psychological support for victims upon release.
