Opposition Crisis in Katsina Ahead of Elections

As the elections approach, opposition parties in Katsina are grappling with internal crises, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which was expected to be a strong contender. The ADC has seen defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including notable figures like Dr.

Mustapha Inuwa and Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita. However, this influx has led to significant divisions within the party, resulting in parallel congresses and potential legal disputes over leadership and candidate selection.

Currently, two factions have emerged, with one backing Senator Kaita and the other supporting Salisu Lawal Uli as governorship candidates. Inuwa has rejected Kaita's selection, claiming no valid primary was held and demanding new primaries.

Lawal Daura has also denied reports of stepping down for a senatorial position, asserting his commitment to the governorship race and warning of legal action if due process is not followed.
