Olubadan Advocates for Local Herbs in Drug Production

Olubadan Oba Rasidi Ladoja called on pharmacists to incorporate local herbs in the production of medicines to decrease dependence on foreign drugs. Speaking at an event in Oyo State, he highlighted the importance of collaboration with local herbal practitioners to achieve better health outcomes.

Ladoja shared a personal experience regarding the effectiveness of local herbs in treating ailments. He appealed for an open-minded approach towards integrating traditional medicine into modern practices.

Victor Ajanaku, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), supported Ladoja's call, urging the federal government to implement policies that encourage local drug production. Ajanaku pointed out that current government policies hinder pharmacists from approving local drug products until favorable regulations are established, which is essential for creating a supportive environment for local pharmaceutical development.
