Labour Party Urges Improved Welfare for Nigerian Workers

On Friday, during a commemoration of International Workers' Day in Abuja, Ken Eluma Asogwa, a representative of the Labour Party, called on authorities to intensify efforts to improve the welfare of Nigerian workers. He acknowledged the federal government's recent increase in the minimum wage, which aims to alleviate the harsh economic realities faced by workers.

However, he noted that more needs to be done to cushion workers against prevailing inflationary pressures across the country. Asogwa praised the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress for their commitment to workers' rights and assured that the Labour Party would steadfastly support the collective struggle for good governance and fair wages, aligning with international labor standards.

He urged Nigerian workers to keep faith in the Labour Party as they approach upcoming elections, expressing confidence in the party's eventual triumph and the overall progress and development of Nigeria.
