Ooni Ogunwusi Urges Government to Combat Insecurity

On Democracy Day, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi called on the Nigerian government to intensify its fight against insecurity, particularly banditry and kidnapping, which he noted continue to threaten peace and development across the country. In a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni's palace, Moses Olafar, the traditional ruler emphasized the importance of citizens remaining patient and supportive of government efforts to address security and economic challenges.

He stressed that it is not the responsibility of the government to allow insecurity to thrive within its territory. Ooni Ogunwusi acknowledged the persistent security challenges in several parts of Nigeria and urged the government to strengthen the nation's security architecture, enhance intelligence gathering, properly equip security agencies, and prosecute perpetrators of criminal activities.

He reiterated that democracy thrives best in an atmosphere of peace, security, and justice.
