Interior Minister Sues Activist for Cyberstalking Charges

Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Minister of Interior in Nigeria, has initiated legal proceedings against activist Emorioloy Owolemi, accusing him of cyberstalking. The lawsuit, filed in the Federal High Court sitting in Akur, Ondo State, includes two counts of sending offensive and threatening electronic communications via Facebook.

The charges allege that Owolemi knowingly transmitted messages that were grossly offensive, indecent, and menacing on December 23, 2025, in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area. The prosecution claims that these actions contravene Section 24(1) of the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act, amended in 2024.

The court has scheduled a hearing for March 26, 2026. This legal action comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding Ojo's qualifications, particularly allegations of forgery related to his National Youth Service Corps certificate.
