NAAPE Faces Internal Crisis Over NCAA Revenue Sharing Formula

An internal crisis has erupted within the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) over the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority's (NCAA) proposal to reduce its share of the 5% Ticket Sale Charge (TSC) from 56% to 40%. This change, which is under consideration by the National Assembly, could significantly impact the NCAA's financial sustainability and its ability to maintain safety oversight functions in the aviation sector.

The NAAPE NCAA branch, led by Chairman Comrade Dieprey Stephen and Secretary Comrade Celestin Nkemakolam Chukwu, issued a statement asserting that any reduction in the NCAA's revenue would adversely affect the welfare of its workforce and the overall safety of the aviation industry. They emphasized that the NCAA's statutory share should not be tampered with and that the branch's position is aligned with the interests of its members.

The NAAPE NCAA branch also clarified that it does not oppose the proposed reduction but insists on the necessity of maintaining the current revenue allocation for effective regulatory functions.
