ADC Reserves 40% Party Positions for Women in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its intention to reserve 40% of party positions for women at all levels, as articulated by spokesman Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi. This announcement coincides with the observance of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026.

Abdullahi emphasized the significant contributions of Nigerian women to the country's social and economic development, despite their underrepresentation in leadership roles. He noted that women play crucial roles in various sectors, including education and healthcare, yet remain marginalized in political decision-making.

The ADC aims to ensure active involvement of women in leadership within the party, with a structured approach to reflect this commitment. Abdullahi called on Nigerian women to join the ADC and participate actively in politics, asserting that the nation's potential cannot be fully realized while half of its population remains underrepresented in political leadership.
