ADC Anticipates 3,000 Delegates for April 14 Convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is preparing for its national convention on April 14, 2024, in Abuja, expecting around 3,000 delegates to attend despite ongoing security challenges. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesperson, disclosed in an interview that the party faced difficulties in securing its traditional venue, Eagle Square, due to alleged obstruction by authorities. The party later sought to use the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, previously utilized by the People's Democratic Party for its convention. Abdullahi described the situation as an assault on the party's leadership. The ADC is also conducting peaceful ward and state congresses across the country, congratulating newly elected state executive chairmen. The party plans to inaugurate these officials on May 12, 2026. Additionally, the ADC has released an updated list of its convention committee, with Liyel Imoke as chairman and Aminu Tambuwal as deputy, amidst ongoing leadership disputes and legal battles affecting the party's readiness for the 2027 general elections.
