ADC Constitution Review Focuses on Women and Youth Inclusion

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is undertaking a constitution review aimed at increasing the inclusion of women and youth within the party. The report was received by the party's national chairman, David Mark, and the national legal adviser, Prof.

Oserheimen Osunbor, from the committee led by Etigw Uwa. This 22-member committee was formally inaugurated on January 8, 2026, with a mandate to align the party's constitution with global best practices, strengthen internal democracy, and improve dispute resolution mechanisms.

Mark emphasized the importance of a constitution that reflects the realities of the time and encourages broad consultation across states and zones. Key proposals include a 30% representation quota for women and 20% for youth, as well as measures to ensure inclusivity for persons with disabilities.

The review also aims to incorporate technological advancements, such as digital registration and virtual meetings, to enhance operational efficiency and engagement at the grassroots level.
