FG: Investing in Women's Health Key to Nigeria's Economy

At the Her Health, Her Power Conference Africa 2026 in Abuja, the Federal Government underscored the necessity of investing in women's health as a cornerstone for Nigeria's ambition to become a $1 trillion economy. Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, represented by Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, stated that without prioritizing women's health, the country's economic goals would remain unattainable.

The conference, organized by the VickyHeldan Empowerment Foundation, gathered stakeholders from various sectors to discuss women's health, empowerment, and leadership. Suleiman-Ibrahim called for enhanced collaboration among government, private sector, and civil society to improve women's health outcomes.

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, echoed the sentiment, linking women's health to economic development and urging political leaders to focus on women's access to healthcare and education. He shared initiatives from his tenure that improved healthcare access for women.

The conference aimed to translate discussions into actionable commitments for advancing women's health.
