Nigerian Businessman Invictus Obi Released from U.S. Prison Amid Fraud Scheme

Invictus Obi, also known as Obinwanne Okeke, a Nigerian entrepreneur, has been released from a U.S. federal prison as part of his sentence for a multi-million dollar fraud scheme. He was arrested in 2019 for wire and computer fraud, sentenced to 10 years in prison, and is now facing deportation to Nigeria.

Okeke gained unauthorized access to corporate email systems to carry out a sophisticated business email compromise scheme, resulting in losses of $11 million. He was also ordered to forfeit $280 million traced to his local bank account.

Okeke had enjoyed acclaim as a rising entrepreneurial star before his arrest.
