IPAC Urges INEC to Reconsider ADC Crisis and Voter Plan
• Naijanews • Politics
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has issued a warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding its recent decision on the leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). IPAC cautioned that failure to address this issue could trigger a credibility crisis as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. The council expressed its concerns about the timing of INEC's proposed nationwide voter revalidation exercise, condemning the ongoing violence in Plateau State, which it described as senseless and dangerous to national unity. In a statement issued in Abuja by Comrad Egbeola Wale Martin, IPAC urged INEC to reconsider its schedule to avoid overwhelming political parties and potentially disenfranchising millions of eligible voters. The council emphasized that leadership disputes within political parties should not be interpreted as a vacuum in party structure and highlighted the need for stability in electoral institutions to foster citizen participation in the democratic process.
