Ejimakor Urges Tinubu to Release Detained Igbo Youths

Aloi Ejimakor, the legal counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, has called on President Bola Tinubu to order the unconditional release of thousands of Igbo youths detained across Nigeria without trial. Ejimakor expressed his concerns regarding the ongoing detention of these individuals, who are held merely on suspicion of being associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

He emphasized that the prolonged detention without due process undermines justice and the rule of law. His comments come amid ongoing debates about security operations in the Southeast, which have been criticized for alleged arbitrary arrests linked to the proscribed separatist group.

Ejimakor argued that due process must be upheld, insisting that suspects should either be charged in court or released. The call for the release of these youths highlights the broader issues of human rights and legal processes in Nigeria, particularly concerning the treatment of individuals associated with IPOB.
