Iran Rejects U.S. Role in Leadership Selection Post-Khamenei

Gholamreza Ahdavi Raja, Iran's ambassador to Nigeria, firmly rejected any suggestion of U.S. involvement in determining Iran's next leadership after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Raja asserted that Iran would independently decide its political future without foreign interference.

His comments were a direct response to remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that the U.S. should play a role in selecting Iran's leadership.

Raja emphasized that Iran would not allow external influences in its domestic affairs and assured that Nigerian citizens in Iran remain safe despite regional tensions. He criticized the U.S. for its military interventions and alleged violations of international law, stating that Iran has not initiated any wars in over two centuries.

Raja also expressed concern over the United Nations' inaction regarding conflicts in the region, highlighting the need for global institutions to address aggression and maintain peace.
