Iran Launches Strikes on Gulf States Despite Assurances

Iran has conducted missile and drone strikes across several Gulf states, including Dubai and Saudi Arabia, despite earlier assurances from President Tehran that it would avoid targeting neighboring countries unless they were directly involved in hostilities. On Saturday, debris from a missile strike fell on a vehicle in the Al Barsha area of Dubai, resulting in the death of an Asian driver, although further details were not disclosed. The UAE confirmed it responded to the missile and drone threats from Iran.

The strikes included attacks on U.S. military installations in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait, as part of Iran's retaliation for a preemptive attack carried out by the U.S. and Israel the previous week. Iranian officials maintain that their attacks are directed solely at U.S. military assets, not the sovereignty of Gulf states, despite complaints from those states regarding the impact on civilian infrastructure.
