Troops Avert Youth Attack on NSCDC Facility in Plateau

On April 21, 2023, at approximately 11:00 AM, irate youths in Plateau State mobilized to attack the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area. This unrest was triggered by the detention of a suspect, leading the youths to protest and attempt to enact "jungle justice" by destroying the security facility.

Troops from the operational area of Sector 6, part of the Enduring Peace operation, received intelligence about the impending attack and swiftly responded to the scene. Their intervention was crucial in dispersing the crowd and providing adequate security cover, which enabled the safe evacuation of the detained suspect to the NSCDC headquarters.

The prompt action of the troops ensured that no lives were lost and that the facility remained intact, averting a potential crisis.
