Irene Oluwashina Launches Initiative for Women's Economic Empowerment

Irene Oluwashina has launched the Freedom Skills and Enterprise Initiative (FSEI), aimed at expanding economic opportunities for women through vocational skills training, entrepreneurship development, business mentorship, and leadership support. Funded by the Freedom Fund and implemented by the Emmanuel Igbinovia Foundation, the initiative seeks to strengthen women’s economic resilience by providing practical skills, knowledge, and support for sustainable livelihoods.

The program has begun training in the beauty, food, and information technology sectors, chosen for their potential to foster entrepreneurship and self-employment. Oluwashina emphasized the importance of investing in women's economic agency for broader social and economic development, stating that economic empowerment extends beyond income generation to include opportunities and resilience.

The initiative combines vocational training with mentorship and leadership development, equipping participants with tools to increase economic security and establish viable enterprises. It aims to enhance women's contributions to household well-being and community resilience, rooted in principles of empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable development.
