Islam's Reputation at Risk Under Tinubu's Leadership

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, expressed concerns regarding the reputation of Islam under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. Speaking at a political event organized by the People Redemption Party (PRP) on Monday, Baba-Ahmed described the situation as sensitive and emphasized the necessity of addressing leadership issues.

He stated that the world perceives Islam as suffering reputational damage due to the current leadership. Baba-Ahmed clarified that his comments were not intended to promote competition between religions but rather to highlight the need for genuine leadership that reflects authentic values, regardless of whether the leader is Christian or Muslim.

He underscored that leadership should not be dictated by faith but should instead focus on the genuine qualities that leaders bring to governance.
