Israel's Defense Minister Reveals Khamenei Assassination Plan

Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz disclosed that the Israeli government made a decision in November to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The plan was executed approximately six months later, coinciding with the start of an air campaign against Iran.

Katz stated that Khamenei was targeted during the first hour of the air campaign, which began on a Saturday. The operation was part of a broader strategy to eliminate what Israel perceives as an existential threat posed by Iran's nuclear program and ballistic missile projects.

The plan was reportedly discussed in a tight forum led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Katz indicated that the timeline for the operation was initially set for mid-2026 but was accelerated due to protests in Iran and concerns that Khamenei might launch attacks against Israeli and U.S. assets in the Middle East.

So far, Khamenei has shown no intention of relinquishing power.
