ISWAP Commander Abu Hassan Killed in Borno Attack

Abu Hassan, identified as a senior commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), was reportedly killed during a failed attack in Kauwa, Borno State. The incident occurred when ISWAP forces, led by Aliyu Zabarmari, confronted unidentified foreign fighters believed to be of Arab origin.

The attack took place in the Tumbunma enclave, where the ISWAP command faced significant resistance. Reports indicate that during the confrontation, some ISWAP fighters sustained injuries, including a gunshot wound that resulted in a fractured thigh.

Additionally, an unidentified Arab fighter remains missing following the failed operation. Security sources described this development as a major setback for the terrorist group, which is expected to affect their command and coordination of attacks across the Lake Chad region.
