ISWAP Family Members Surrender to Nigerian Troops

On a recent Wednesday, Fatimata Modu, a 29-year-old woman, and her two-year-old son, Muham Modu, surrendered to Nigerian army troops in Borno State. The surrender occurred in the Bama Local Government Area, specifically at the location of the 81 Division Task Force Battalion.

Fatimata and her son, who are from Yaganari Village, voluntarily approached the troops, leading to their immediate custody and documentation as per operational procedures. Security expert Zagazola Makama reported that this surrender is part of a growing trend where insurgent family members are laying down arms and embracing a non-violent path amid ongoing military operations in the northeast region of Nigeria.

Despite the sustained military efforts, the overall security situation in the area remains calm yet unpredictable, with troops maintaining a high level of vigilance.
