Fayose Defends Support for Tinubu Amid PDP Membership

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, addressed his support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during a speech at the People's Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held in Abuja. Fayose asserted that his backing of Tinubu does not constitute anti-party activity, despite his affiliation with the PDP.

He argued that political support should be guided by competence rather than blind loyalty to party lines, questioning the rationale behind supporting candidates solely based on party affiliation. Fayose emphasized that prioritizing national interest is essential and that political differences are a normal feature of democracy.

He maintained that his stance does not violate the principles of the PDP and highlighted that accommodating differing political views is a characteristic of democracies worldwide.
