Edo State Hosts Successful Okpekpe 10km Road Race

Mike Itemuagbor, Chief Executive Officer of Pamodzi Sport Market, commended Senator Mondai Okphebolo, the Edo State Governor, for creating a secure environment that facilitated the successful organization of the 11th edition of the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race. The event took place on the penultimate Saturday in Okpekpe, Etsako East Local Government Area.

Itemuagbor noted that the flawless security arrangements were critical in delivering a hitch-free event, which attracted around 2,000 elite and mass runners from various countries. He acknowledged the proactive measures taken by Governor Okphebolo to reassure organizers and participants about safety, emphasizing that the race has become a fixture on the global calendar since its inception in 2013.

The event not only showcased Nigeria's ability to host international sports events safely but also served as a reminder of the country's resilience despite recent security challenges, including insurgency and banditry.
