ICPC Denies Arrest of Justice James Omotosho as False

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) issued a statement on Tuesday, denying reports that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja had been arrested. The ICPC described the claims circulating on social media as false and clarified that neither an arrest nor an invitation for investigation had occurred.

The commission's spokesperson highlighted that the video alleging the arrest should be disregarded. Furthermore, the ICPC emphasized that it holds members of the judiciary, including Justice Omotosho, in high regard.

The backdrop of the false claims relates to allegations of corruption against judges, which could lead to severe penalties, including a seven-year prison sentence and permanent removal from the bench, as well as a lifetime ban from holding public office in Nigeria, as per the National Judicial Council's supposed orders.
