Itsekiri Leaders Reject INEC's Delineation Report in Delta

Itsekiri leaders, representing the Itsekiri ethnic nation, held a press conference in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, to reject the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) delineation report. They accused INEC of constitutional violations and technical irregularities in the Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping process.

The leaders, including Chief Edward Ekpoko and Prince Yemi Emiko, insisted on full compliance with a Supreme Court judgment that directs INEC to conduct fresh delineation exercises in Warri South, Warri South West, and Warri North local government areas. They claimed the proposed delineation scheme violates the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act of 2026, alleging that the report contains numerous inaccuracies, including polling units located outside recognized local government boundaries.

The leaders highlighted that significant communities were omitted from the field report despite their large populations, arguing that the delineation should be based on accurate voter registration data from the 2023 general elections.
