Ogun NFWP Launches Project Champions to Empower Women

The Ogun State National Financial Inclusion Project (NFWP) inaugurated Project Champions, marking a significant milestone with the establishment of 3,486 Women’s Affinity Groups (WAGs). The initiative, supported by the World Bank, aims to empower unbanked women and expand economic opportunities.

Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs, Augusta Araba, emphasized that the program, which commenced in June 2023, is reshaping the socio-economic landscape of the state. The project focuses on financial inclusion and enterprise development, with training for 440 ward facilitators to enhance skills in financial literacy and digital inclusion.

Project Coordinator Bolanle Fadairo highlighted the importance of commitment and discipline among the champions, urging them to act as ambassadors for community transformation. The initiative aims to ensure that no woman is left behind in accessing economic opportunities, with a strong emphasis on grassroots mobilization and advocacy.

The event also reflected on the success of the pilot phase from 2020 to 2023, showcasing the project's impact on community engagement and women's empowerment.
