Iyabo Ojo Accuses Ghana TV of Pirating Her Movie

Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo publicly called out Ghanaian TV station NETV for airing her movie "The Memory of You" without permission, less than 24 hours after its release. The final episode of the film was released on Friday at 5 PM, and by Saturday afternoon, Ojo posted on Instagram condemning the unauthorized broadcast.

She urged Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama to revoke or suspend NETV's license, citing the Copyright Act, 2005 (Act 690) and the need for enforcement of existing laws against piracy. Ojo expressed that filmmakers invest significant time and resources into their work and that piracy undermines creativity, jobs, and investment in the industry.

This incident follows a recent announcement by the Ghana National Film Authority regarding plans to broadcast Nigerian films without authorization.
