JAAN and JICA Collaborate to End Open Defecation in FCT Area Councils by 2027

The Japan Alumni Association of Nigeria (JAAN) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are partnering to eliminate open defecation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils by 2027. The initiative involves capacity building, infrastructure improvement, and community-led behavior change to combat the sanitation challenges in peri-urban and rural areas of Abuja.

The collaboration seeks to establish sustainable sanitation models for replication nationwide, aligning with the Clean Nigeria campaign. JAAN and JICA emphasize the importance of public health, human dignity, and inclusive development in addressing sanitation issues.
