The "Not Admitted" status on the JAMB CAPS (Central Admissions Processing System) portal serves as a default placeholder for candidates at the beginning of the admission cycle. This status indicates that no admission offer is currently displayed on the candidate's profile but does not mean they have been rejected.

JAMB emphasizes that all legitimate admission offers must pass through the CAPS portal, and any offers made outside this system are considered illegal. The platform provides various status messages, including "Admission Offered," "Admission in Progress," "Recommended," "Not Admitted," and "Pending," each representing different stages of the admission process.

Candidates are advised to check their CAPS status regularly, as schools may upload admission lists in stages. If a candidate's status changes to "Admission in Progress," it means their name has been forwarded to JAMB for validation.

Being "Recommended" indicates that the institution considers the candidate qualified, but final verification by JAMB is still required.
