JAMB Ends Admissions for Affiliated Degree Programs
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that admissions into degree programs run by Colleges of Education affiliated with universities will cease for the 2026/2027 academic session. The board stated that there will be no admissions into these affiliated programs for the 2026/2027 session, and direct admissions for new students at 100 and 200 levels will be prohibited.
This policy aims to end the longstanding arrangement that allowed Colleges of Education to offer degree programs in partnership with conventional universities. JAMB has outlined alternative entry routes for candidates wishing to pursue degree programs at affiliated Colleges of Education, allowing them to change their preferred institutions until June 22, 2026.
Additionally, the board introduced a compulsory O-level verification fee of 1,500 Naira for applicants. The new guidelines are expected to ensure compliance with the regulations set forth by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) and the Institutional Professional Regulatory Commission (IPRC).
