JAMB Denies Responsibility in Lead City University Law Scandal

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) issued a statement on Thursday, clarifying that it is not responsible for the admissions scandal involving the law faculty at Lead City University. JAMB's Public Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, stated that the university has been under a five-year suspension and is not authorized to admit candidates into its law program until the suspension period expires.

JAMB emphasized that any admissions processed during this time are void and not recognized by the regulatory body. The board reiterated its long-standing warning to candidates not to accept offers of admission outside the approved central admissions process, labeling such offers as illegitimate.

JAMB also noted attempts by certain universities to circumvent regulations regarding inter-university transfers, insisting that transfers will not be recognized without proper admission processes. The board continues to uphold its responsibilities in line with the laws governing admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
