JAMB probes 6,458 UTME candidates over alleged exam malpractice

JAMB has initiated an investigation into 6,458 UTME candidates for suspected exam malpractice during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The Special Committee on Examination Infraction in Abuja will look into the cases and submit a report within 21 days.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, emphasized the importance of fighting exam malpractice, stating that those found guilty will face sanctions. The committee will handle 141 cases of extraordinary infractions, including image blending, albinism falsification, and finger pairing.

The committee's terms of reference include investigating the methods and technologies used in the malpractice, reviewing registration policies, determining culpability, and proposing frameworks for detection and prevention of future fraud. Committee chairman, Jake Epele, assured fairness and transparency in carrying out their duties to uphold the integrity of the examination process.

Members of the committee include various education and security officials.
