JAMB Re-arrests Emmanuel Akataka for UTME Scam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the re-arrest of Emmanuel Prais Akataka for his involvement in a UTME registration scam. JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyed disclosed that Akataka had previously been apprehended for similar offenses, including impersonation and identity theft, targeting unsuspecting candidates.

He allegedly resumed fraudulent activities after being granted bail, using the alias "Sir Frederick" to deceive candidates into believing he could inflate their scores for a fee of N70,000. JAMB's investigation revealed that Akataka collected payments through a bank account opened under a false identity, Zainab Rafiu.

The board expressed deep concern over the increasing tendency of candidates to seek illegal advantages instead of upholding integrity. JAMB reiterated its commitment to collaborating with security agencies to prosecute individuals involved in examination malpractices and warned candidates against engaging in fraudulent schemes, which could lead to financial loss and legal consequences.
