JAMB Arrests Candidates and Parent for Forging UTME Scores

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the arrest of two candidates and a parent for allegedly forging Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores using artificial intelligence tools. The arrests were disclosed on Friday, following the examination conducted on April 16, 2026.

JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin stated that the suspects manipulated official results to deceive others. The candidates are currently in the custody of their parent, who was also apprehended for involvement in the forgery.

JAMB warned that such conduct constitutes a serious criminal offense and emphasized that they will pursue culpable individuals to the full extent of the law. Candidates were cautioned against tampering with results, and JAMB provided information on how to check scores via SMS.

The UTME began on April 16 and is expected to run until April 22, with results being released in batches as the exercise progresses.
