JAMB and WAEC Introduce N4,000 One-off Verification Fee

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have announced a new policy that allows candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to pay a one-off fee of N4,000 for the verification of their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or O’Level results. This initiative is designed to alleviate the financial burden on admission seekers who previously faced multiple verification charges from different institutions.

Under this arrangement, candidates will verify their WAEC results through JAMB, which will then share the verification outcome with relevant tertiary institutions. The payment must be made exclusively through the JAMB Verification Service platform, and institutions are prohibited from demanding additional fees for further verification of the same results.

This policy follows consultations between JAMB and WAEC and aims to streamline the verification process, allowing candidates to initiate verification from any internet-enabled location, thus reducing the need for physical visits to institutions or JAMB-approved centers.
