JAMB and WAEC Launch N4,000 WASSCE Verification Fee

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have announced a new policy that introduces a one-time verification fee of N4,000 for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions. This decision, made public in a joint statement on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, aims to alleviate the financial and logistical burdens on admission seekers who previously had to verify their credentials multiple times across different institutions.

Under this arrangement, candidates regulated by JAMB will verify their WAEC results once through the JAMB Verification Service platform. WAEC has authorized JAMB to share the verification outcomes with relevant tertiary institutions, thus removing the necessity for candidates to undergo repeated verifications.

The payment of the N4,000 fee is to be made exclusively through the JAMB platform, and institutions are prohibited from charging candidates separately for additional verifications. This initiative allows candidates to complete the verification process remotely, enhancing convenience and efficiency in the admission process.
