JCI President Urges Northern Governors on Youth Empowerment

Akinbode Abitogun, the 2026 president of Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCI), called on northern governors to enhance their investment in youth development and to guarantee free and fair elections in preparation for the 2027 general election. This appeal was made during the JCI Nigeria Northern Conference, themed “Build Youth Vision and the New North,” which took place in Abuja on Saturday.

Abitogun emphasized the importance of supporting youth-focused organizations like JCI that are dedicated to empowering young people in the northern region. He stated, “The major specific commitment is to support organisations like JCI, who are willing to continuously build young people in the northern region.” Furthermore, he urged the government to facilitate the active participation of youth in the electoral process, stressing the need for a transparent voting environment.

He stated, “My message to the governors or to the government is to keep everything free and fair. The young people are willing, everybody is willing to vote.”.
