Omidiran Urges Nigerian Youths to Lead Democracy

Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), called on Nigerian youths to transition from being mere beneficiaries to active custodians of democracy. This message was delivered by Federal Commissioner Peter Ogbonna Eze at a Nigeria Youth Organization event themed ‘The Role of Nigerian Youth in Consolidating the Gains of Democracy in Nigeria.’ Omidiran stressed that the future of Nigeria's democracy relies on the younger generation's commitment and participation.

She highlighted the need for respect for the rule of law, accountability, and responsible citizenship. Omidiran condemned violence and misinformation, urging youths to engage constructively with government institutions.

She acknowledged the Nigeria Youth Organization's endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, viewing it as a sign of confidence in governance continuity. Furthermore, she emphasized equity and inclusion as vital for democracy and called for fair access to opportunities for all youths, regardless of their background.
