Jigawa State Approves ₦53,853 Refund for Hajj Pilgrims

The Jigawa State Government has approved a refund of ₦53,853 for each pilgrim who participated in the 2026 Hajj, following the return of excess funds. This decision was disclosed by Umar Labbo, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, during the presentation of the 2026 Hajj Committee report to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.

The board refunded ₦44.9 million in excess Hajj funds and also remitted an additional ₦27.2 million to the state treasury from unspent funds. Labbo praised the 2026 Hajj operation as the most successful in Jigawa's history, highlighting the introduction of eye care services for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

He expressed gratitude for the state government's financial support, which included a ₦3.4 billion loan for Hajj operations. Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu, called for a permanent Hajj transit camp for pilgrims.

Governor Namadi commended the committee's efforts and confirmed the refund amount for each pilgrim.
