Jigawa Approves ₦3.5bn Loan for 2027 Hajj Seats

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved an interest-free loan of ₦3.5 billion for the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to facilitate early payments for the 2027 Hajj exercise, ensuring the state secures its allocation of pilgrimage slots. Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, the Director-General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, stated that this approval is crucial for meeting the financial requirements set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The loan will allow the board to make mandatory initial deposits on behalf of intending pilgrims, preventing the loss of allotted Hajj slots. Labbo expressed gratitude to Governor Umar Namadi and the Executive Council for this timely intervention, emphasizing the board's commitment to transparency and accountability in managing the funds.

He urged intending pilgrims to complete their payments promptly, noting that the deadline for initial deposits is set for September by Saudi authorities. The board has a history of promptly refunding previous intervention funds, which has built confidence with the state government.
