Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi Pardons 12 Inmates Ahead of Ramadan

On the occasion of Ramadan, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has granted pardons to 12 convicted inmates to promote social reintegration and goodwill. This decision was disclosed in a statement by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Bello Abdulkadir Fanini.

The pardons align with the spirit of the forthcoming Sallah celebrations and were made following recommendations from the Jigawa State Advisory Council, in accordance with Section 5(1) of the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy Law, Cap A2, Laws of Jigawa State 2012. Fanini explained that the governor exercised his constitutional power under Section 212(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) to approve these pardons.

The beneficiaries, including individuals such as Ibrahim Adamu and Isa Sa Idu, were considered for their good conduct while in custody and are encouraged to reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.
