Jigawa Governor Pardons 12 Inmates for Eid al-Fitr

In a gesture marking the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebration, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has pardoned 12 inmates. This decision was announced in a statement by the state Attorney General, Bello Fanini, and was made public on Thursday in Dutse, the state capital.

The pardons were granted following recommendations from the Jigawa State Advisory Council and are in accordance with Section 5(1) of the relevant law, as well as Section 212(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). The inmates pardoned include Ibrahim Adamu, Isa Sa Idu, Umar Adamu, Musa Habibu, Musa Yusuf, Shu Aibu, Adamu Abdullahi, Ya U Yahaya, Jana U Abdul Hamisu, Garba Miko, Salisu Isa, and Aliyu Ibrahim.

Attorney General Fanini emphasized that the pardons reflect the government's commitment to fostering goodwill and promoting peace, encouraging the beneficiaries to maintain good behavior and contribute positively to society. The government also plans to support their reintegration into the community.
