Jigawa State Dismisses Staff Over Feeding Program Fraud

The Jigawa State Government has taken decisive action against corruption within its feeding program by dismissing several contractors and kitchen staff. This decision, announced by Auwalu D.

Sankara from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, follows a surprise visit to schools and health facilities in the Kazaur, Roni, and Gwiwa areas of Yankwashi Local Government. Reports indicated that the number of students recorded was significantly higher than those actually present, with the Junior Secondary School Karkarna Yankwashi claiming 257 students while only 123 were seen.

Additionally, complaints about the quality of food supplied led to inspections that revealed substandard rice and inadequate meal provision. Consequently, four kitchen masters were dismissed for allegedly falsifying figures, and two contractors were removed for supplying poor-quality food.

The government emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the feeding program serves its intended purpose and will continue unannounced inspections.
