Jigawa State Allocates ₦586m for Border Free Zone Renovation

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a budget of ₦586.26 million for the renovation of facilities at the Maigatari Border Free Zone and the Government Guest House in Gumel. Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, announced this decision following a State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday at the Government House in Dutse.

The contract, valued at ₦586,260,886.44, aims to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Maigatari Border Free Zone and improve infrastructure to support trade and investment activities. Musa emphasized the importance of the border zone for regional commerce, particularly with the Niger Republic, and its potential to attract local and foreign investments.

The renovation of the Government Guest House is intended to provide better accommodation for government officials and visitors, supporting the economic activities of the zone. The projects are part of the administration's broader economic development agenda to expand trade opportunities and improve the ease of doing business in Jigawa State.
