Jigawa State Unveils 10-Year Education Strategic Plan

The Jigawa State government has introduced a 10-year state education strategic plan and local government operational plans to enhance education development from 2026 to 2035. This initiative is in collaboration with international and national organizations, including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA).

The plan is funded by the European Union (EU) under the Education and Youth Empowerment Program in Northern Nigeria (EYPINN) and was unveiled at a dissemination event at 3 Star Hotel in Dutse. Alhaji Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, the Commissioner for Basic Education, stated that the strategic plan encompasses a comprehensive framework that includes Early Childhood Care Development and Education (ECCDE), basic education, senior secondary, Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET), adult and non-formal education, nomadic education, tertiary education, and teacher professional development.

He identified six key thematic areas essential for educational transformation: access, equality and inclusiveness; quality and relevance; infrastructure and facilities; governance, management and efficiency; resilience and emergency preparedness; and sustainable financing.
