Jigawa, UNICEF Strengthen Partnership for Child Welfare

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi congratulated Shafeeq Ur Rehman on his appointment as the UNICEF Kano Field Officer during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Dutse. The meeting included members of the management team and resulted in a statement issued by Hamisu Moham Gumel, the governor's chief press secretary.

Governor Namadi reaffirmed the administration's commitment to implementing policies and programs that enhance the welfare of children and women, particularly vulnerable groups. He praised UNICEF for its long-standing support since the partnership began shortly after the state's creation in 1991.

The alliance focuses on improving the quality of life for children and women, producing tangible results in healthcare, nutrition, education, water, sanitation, hygiene, and child protection. The governor highlighted recent achievements, including a significant decline in moderate and severe malnutrition and maintaining Jigawa's status as Nigeria's first open defecation-free state.
