Jigawa State Launches 5-Year Development Plan for LGAs

The Jigawa State Government has announced a comprehensive five-year development plan for its 27 local government areas, as stated by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Garba Hanon Giwa, during an unveiling event on Tuesday at the Council Chamber, Government House, Dutse. This initiative is described as a consolidated, prosperous, inclusive, and resilient development strategy.

The development plans are the result of a thorough consultative process that involved state ministries, local government councils, traditional and religious institutions, civil society organizations, community representatives, women, youth, persons with disabilities, and development partners. Giwa emphasized that the contributions from these diverse groups ensure that the plans accurately reflect the aspirations and developmental needs of the people.

For the first time, each local government area in Jigawa has a structured five-year development framework that aligns with the Jigawa State Development Plan, national development priorities, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These plans will guide budgeting, investment prioritization, project implementation, monitoring, and performance evaluation at the local level.
